Moet ik altijd double cleansen?

This Is Why You Should Always Double Cleanse

At Biotylab, we believe in less is more —but sometimes your skin needs just that little bit more. Especially if you wear makeup daily, use SPF, or—like so many of us—live in the city. Air pollution, particulate matter, and cosmetic residue can build up on your skin without you even noticing. So, it's time to take a closer look at the popular double cleansing .

What is double cleansing anyway?

Double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like: you cleanse your face in two steps. First, with an oil or balm cleanser to dissolve makeup, sebum, and SPF. Then, a gentle, water-based cleanser to remove excess dirt and sweat without disrupting your skin barrier. This method is especially effective if you wear waterproof makeup or spend a lot of time in the city.

In the first week:

If you have oily or combination skin, applying oil to your face might sound like a disaster in the making. However, it turns out the opposite is true.

Results after one week? Less subcutaneous inflammation, a softer skin texture, and a fresher look upon waking.

***Biotylab Tip: Try the Renaissance cleansing gel with enzymes followed by the Absolution Le Nettoyant Pureté – a combination of natural ingredients and gentle power.***

In the second week:

My skin felt increasingly calmer. The previously visible open pores and blackheads visibly diminished. My skin became brighter, and no new breakouts appeared.

Is double cleansing something for you?

1. Yes, if you wear makeup or SPF daily
2. Yes, if you live in a (large) city or suffer from air pollution
3. Yes, if you notice that your skin is becoming duller or clogged more quickly

But: no, if you hardly wear makeup, work from home, or have very sensitive skin . Then a gentle single cleanse is often sufficient. And triple cleansing? We'd rather not try that at Biotylab – over-cleansing can damage your skin barrier , leading to irritation and dryness.
